Syracuse University ACHA hockey has announced their schedule for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The Orange will open up the campaign on the road against Robert Morris on Friday, September 29th and Saturday, September 30th in Pittsburgh, PA. ‘Cuse will return home the following weekend for the 2023-24 Home Opener at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Saturday, October 7th and Sunday, October 8th against John Carroll University.
SU will play a 14 game conference schedule in the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League again this season - playing each of the 7 other ESCHL opponents two times throughout the year. The Orange will take on Pittsburgh, Rhode Island, and Drexel at home and will travel to Stony Brook and NYU. The 2 game series with Niagara will be split between Syracuse and Niagara Falls.
Syracuse is slated to play their remaining 16 games against 8 different out-of-conference opponents. This includes 2 game sets with Robert Morris, John Carroll, Kent State, Oswego State, Ohio, William Patterson, Liberty, and RIT.
Two of Syracuse's non-conference opponents finished last season ranked in the top 5 in the ACHA. Ohio University concluded 2022-23 ranked at #2 in the country while Liberty was ranked #5. Both the Bobcats and the Flames fell in the semi-finals at the 2023 ACHA National Tournament. The Saturday, January 20th matchup against Liberty is set to begin at 11:59pm - a tradition that Liberty calls “Midnight Mayhem” where they will likely sell out their 4,000 seat arena in Lynchburg, VA. Both contests against LU can be seen on ESPN+.
Syracuse will welcome back past members of the club when they host Pittsburgh for Hall of Fame Alumni Weekend on October 20th & 21st. Senior Day is scheduled for Sunday afternoon on February 10th when ‘Cuse takes on the University of Delaware in the season finale.
The Orange do plan to take part in the annual SU x Crunch event at the Upstate Medical Arena in downtown Syracuse this season. A date and time for this game has yet to be announced.
The Orange also have a 2 game exhibition series slated against Cornell University (AAU) prior to the first weekend of the season. The home and home exhibition set will begin at Tennity Ice Pavilion on September 22nd and conclude the following day at the historic Lynah Arena in Ithaca, NY.
The full 32 game schedule can be found below or by clicking here. All home games are played at the Tennity Ice Pavilion and are free to attend for both students and the general public. Home games can also be streamed live and for free on the SU Hockey Network. A 2023-24 printable schedule poster can be found here.
