Head Coach Chris Timmons, who is ready for his second season behind the Orange bench, had to make several difficult choices to piece together this year's team.

"We had some tough decisions to make when it came to finalizing our roster this year. At the end of the day, we feel we put together a team that can keep us moving in the right direction and progressing our program forward."

Timmons already seems to be impressed with his new group after week 1 of practice.

"The pace has definitely elevated. After the first few practices it’s been good to see where we're at in terms of our battle and compete levels. There's always a learning curve as we begin the buy-in process to our systems but we're excited with what we've seen so far. It was definitely nice to have a full off-season this time around especially with the amount of preparation that goes into a season. We're ready to make a statement."

Captain, Mackenzie Murphy, is also ready to get his senior season underway with his new teammates.

"I’m really excited for this group. There are a lot more guys with experience under their belts this season and I think that’s already helped us a lot in preparing for Opening Night. It’s already a pretty tight knit group off the ice so we’re really hoping that translates in our play."

The Orange will open up the 2022-23 season at home against Kent State on Friday, September 23rd at 7:00PM. 'Cuse is looking to rebound from a 6-20-0 season last year - a campaign that included a coaching change, 19 first year players, and returning to play after the cancellation of the entire 2020-21 season.

Coach Timmons also talked about the importance of opening up the new year on the right foot.

"The mentality has to be a complete 60 minutes. It’s about consistency in our play and making the most of our opportunities. Whenever you get the chance to have your first weekend at home, it's important to take advantage in order to get off to a strong start. Setting the tone early and establishing some momentum right off the bat will be key."

Syracuse wraps up opening weekend with another contest against Kent State the following day, Saturday, September 24th at 2:00 PM. For the remainder of the 2022-23 schedule click here.
