RECRUITING

Syracuse University Men's Club Hockey would like to express an interest in your future as a student-athlete. Syracuse gives you the combination of superior academics coupled with an outstanding hockey program. The Syracuse University Hockey Team is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division I level. The team competes in the Eastern Collegiate Hockey League (ECHL) involving teams from Central and Western New York, Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio.

Syracuse University Club Hockey uses the tryout system to pick new players. A meeting will be held the first week of school in the fall with the tryout held over several days the following week. Tryouts are a subjective and often difficult way to pick a team, so prospective players are advised to show up ready to play, in terms of both physical condition and mental preparedness. Any advance information on candidates for the team will helpful in the selection process.

Students must maintain a 2.5 average to play on the team. If that average drops below 2.5 then the student will be suspended from the team for the rest of that season. Should the student end the accademic year below the 2.5 cutoff, then the student will be ineligible for the following year. Team captains and coaches encourage team study environments and will assist those who are having academic difficulty as a matter of policy.

Syracuse University Club Hockey plays approximately 25 games per season with three practices per week. Practices are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with games split evenly between home and away venues. All home game and practices are held at the Tennity Ice Pavillion, a modern on-campus facility. Check out our schedule for the upcoming game times.

Potential players are asked to fill out our recruiting form. If you plan to visit please contact the coach to schedule a visit. At that time we can further discuss the hockey program and answer any questions. Please keep in mind the registration deadlines that can be checked by calling admissions (315) 443-1870 or by checking the admissions website.

Thank you for your interest in our University and hockey program.
